Secretary Mayorkas to Travel to New York

WASHINGTON – On Friday, September 10, 2021 and Saturday, September 11, 2021, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas will travel to New York, NY.​ On Friday,​ Secretary Mayorkas​ will join​ Governor​ Kathy​ Hochul, Mayor​ Bill​ de Blasio, and​ NYPD leadership for a briefing on 9/11 security matters followed by a press conference.​ Secretary Mayorkas will​ also travel to Queens​ neighborhoods affected by Hurricane Ida,​ visit​ a Disaster Recovery Center, and participate in a media availability.​ ​

On Saturday, Secretary Mayorkas​ will honor and memorialize the lives lost 20 years ago with travel to sites of the 9/11 attack in New York City.​ While in New York, Secretary Mayorkas will also review the U.S. Secret Service planning for the United Nations General Assembly.​
